Quality Assurance Food Technologist
THE ROLE
We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance - Food Technologist
to form an integral part of the QA and Product Development Team, responsible for supporting the QA Manager and Food Technologist in ensuring product quality, food safety, and compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory standards. This position assists in product development, quality assurance, document control, laboratory testing, and continuous improvement activities to maintain best practices across all processes and systems.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to company procedures, quality systems, CCPs, QCPs, and regulatory requirements (SQF, HACCP, GMP).
- Conduct and assist with internal/external audits, verifications, calibrations, and GMP inspections.
- Maintain QA documentation, including specifications, records, and document control systems.
- Support investigations of non-conformances, corrective/preventive actions, and continuous improvement activities.
- Perform product, environmental, and laboratory testing; ensure allergen and food safety controls are maintained.
- Oversee product hold/release and monitor CCP/QCP compliance through routine checks.
- Assist with staff training on food safety, quality procedures, and GMP.
- Support customer complaint investigations and follow-up.
- Carry out Laboratory duties to ensure product meets with required specification and clearances are completed on time.
- Assist in new product development from concept to commercialisation.
- Compile and maintain product documentation, including labelling, nutritional data, allergen information, and specifications.
- Review and approve artwork, labels, and promotional materials.
- Participate in product development meetings and ensure documentation accuracy
- Provide support and guidance to production staff to ensure quality outcomes.
- Communicate effectively across departments and escalate quality or safety issues promptly.
- Foster teamwork, safety awareness, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Assist the QA Manager and Senior Food Technologist with daily QA operations.
- Comply with PPE, site hygiene, and safe work practices at all times.
- Report incidents, accidents, or near-miss events immediately.
- Participate in WHS and site safety initiatives to maintain a safe work environment.
